Second Power Line Fire on Vandola Road

Pittsylvania Co., VA - A brush fire broke out on Vandola Rd. in Pittsylvania County Saturday afternoon.

Fire officials say at least eight local volunteer Fire Departments assisted in controlling a field fire that began from a power line around 3:40 p.m..

The fire is down a long road with a steep incline making it hard for them to access it.

As of 6 p.m., the fire had spread across 20 acres.

Early Saturday around 1 a.m., crews responded just a few feet up the same Road. That fire was also  due to a power line fire that started after the wind storm that swept through the area.

Bassett Fire official Jerry Gentry says they are not sure how long it will take to put the brush fire out.
