Crews on Scene of Gas Leak
Update 2:40 p.m.:
Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg city officials say the gas leak downtown has been contained. Crews are still on the scene.
Officials say a utility company that was doing work for a Columbia Gas Company hit 6 inch gas line on 12th and Commerce about 1 p.m. Monday.
Officials evacuated between 50 to 75 people, and it took about an hour to get gas off
Lynchburg officials closed down 12th Street, Commerce Street and Main Street.
People will be allowed to go back to the businesses soon.
No one was injured.

Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg city officials are asking people to avoid the downtown area after a gas leak.
The leak is at the intersection of 12th Street and Main Street.
The businesses on Main Street between the 1100 and 1300 blocks have been evacuated as a precaution.
There's no word on what caused the leak.
