Lynchburg, VA- A local senior living facility is helping the elderly who need a cool place to stay.
Runk and Pratt Senior Living Community have opened their facilities in Forest and Lynchburg to residents. Officials say they have about 15 people from the Red Cross and Centra Hospice taking refuge there. Some Runk and Pratt residents are even sharing their rooms with those in needs. Officials say everyone should check on their elderly neighbors and advise them to seek shelter.
"Because they become so dehydrated so easily, and so many things can happen after dehydration sets in, we really strongly urge everybody to seek help. When there is hand extended go ahead and let someone help you," said Vicky Runk, co-owner Runk & Pratt Senior Living Community.
Runk and Pratt officials say they have about three beds available. They are also in need of volunteers to come sit with the elderly or assist them with other duties.
If you would like to help call 434-610-0597 and ask for Amy. Runk & Pratt is currently seeking volunteers to help with elderly residents.
