How to Help During the Storm Recovery

Lynchburg, VA - If you're one of the lucky ones with power Monday night, there's plenty you can do to help your community.

At Thomas Road Baptist Church's cooling center, there is a volunteer booth set up in the lobby.  If you stop by, officials will direct you to where you are needed.  They are also looking for doctors and nurses to volunteer in the clinic.

Gleaning for the World is collecting supplies at TRBC right now. They need personal care items, canned food and water.

The Salvation Army in Lynchburg told ABC-13 they could really use donations like water, any beverages and paper products.  You can call them before you come to find out a more specific request.  The Salvation Army in Roanoke also says everyone can donate money to the organization's disaster relief fund by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY.  Just specify your city and the money is directed to that area.

The city of Lynchburg is asking people who want to volunteer to call the American Red Cross or just call 211 and you will be referred to the best agency.
