Lynchburg, VA - The heat is also affecting some senior living homes. The Oaks of Lynchburg has been without power since Friday night. Inside, fans are powered by generators.
Directors say the nearly 60 residents who live there are suffering, especially those on oxygen tanks. The average age of those living in the home is 87 years old.
Family of those living there say they are concerned this health facility is not getting priority.
"It doesn't make me feel very comfortable and it doesn't make my wife feel very comfortable also. But we know there's so many other things going on right now. But we def. just want to make sure that they are on a priority list," said Ashby Sandidge.
An AEP spokesperson says outages are prioritized. The bigger the outage, the higher the priority.
