Roanoke County, Va. - Roanoke County Fire & Rescue crews have contained a six acre brush fire in the area of Carvins Cove. At about 10:30 a.m. Monday, crews were able to complete a containment line around the six acres of brush that had been burning since about 1:30 p.m. Monday this afternoon.
About 20 firefighters were on scene and used hand rakes and leaf blowers to dig a containment line around the area that was burning.
The fire was difficult to access and firefighters accessed the area by three different locations, Tim berview Drive, Angel Lane and finally by boating across the cove from the dam. Crews will return Tuesday morning to mop-up the burned out area. There is reportedly no contamination to the Cove water.
