Lynchburg - The Hillcats fell to Winston-Salem in game one of a Monday night doubleheader 5-4 in eight innings, but bounced back to win the nightcap 5-2 to gain a split.
In game one, Chris Garcia and Matt Weaver drove in runs to give the 'Cats a 3-1 lead.
Later in the 5th inning, Mycal Jones stole third and scored when the catcher's throw sailed into left field, Lynchburg led 4-1. But Trayce Thompson, who had homered off Hillcats ace J.R. Graham earlier in the game, did it again in the sixth, this time it's a three-run shot to tie the game. The scheduled 7-inning game goes an extra inning and the Dash pull out the 5-4 win.
In game two, Lynchburg again took the early lead, Jones' rbi hit in the second made it 3-0 Hillcats. Hillcats starter Cody Martin allowed just one run and four hits in five innings of work, striking out eight.
Martin and the Hillcats get the win in game two 5-2.
