Bedford Co.,VA - Many Bedford County residents without power are still searching for a place to cool down. But some local churches are stepping up to help.

Christian Life Ministries and Liberty Cowboy Church have teamed up to serve as a 24 hour shelter. Thanks to donations from the Bedford Police Department, the churches are providing meals, and free drinks. They are also offering shelter for your pets if they are crated. Pastor Mike Dodson at Christian Life Ministries says a tragedy like this can really change a person's perspective.

"Many people think you need to be homeless to need a shelter and it's just a tragic circumstance like this that changes anyone's situation," said Senior Pastor Mike Dodson Jr.

The Bedford Moose Lodge and the Bedford County Parks and Recreation Center are also serving as cooling centers. They are open 24 hours a day.
