Danville Residents Can Expect Delays in Debris Pickup

Danville, VA - Residents in Danville can expect delays as Public Works tries to clean up storm debris.
Collectors have been working through extreme heat these past few days trying to gather all the tree debris that is scattered around the city.
Normally they have about four trucks out on the street but since last Friday's wind storm that number has grown to eight.
Officials say the delays will extend over the next three weeks.
"I would say to the public that they need to keep the yard waste separate from other types of debris and when they stack their piles, stack it away from mailboxes and poles so that our grapple truck can pick it up," said Rick Drazenovich, Danville Public Works Director.
The director also says they are waiving the extra fees normally associated with extra weight and length restrictions during the clean-up process.
