Lynchburg, VA - The Lynchburg Fire Department is reporting a significant increase in calls connected to the power outages.
Officials say they answered more than 300 calls in the first 24 hours after the storm hit. Normally, they would receive 80 calls on a typical day.
They saw a higher number of calls the whole week, the bulk of them coming in between noon and 6:00 p.m.
The department had three extra ambulances in service and called in some people who were off.
