Danville, VA- The 72-year-old man hit by a train Friday died Saturday morning.
General Redd of Danville was hit around 8:30 p.m. Friday behind Ballou Park shopping center between Wooding Avenue and Tunstall Road.
Norfolk Southern Railway reported that one of their trains had struck a man.
After being transported to Danville Regional Hospital he was flown by helicopter to Carillion in Roanoke.
Witnesses say the man was laying on the train tracks and could not get up in time to escape the train's path.
The accident is still under investigation.
