Pittsylvania Co., VA - A Pittsylvania County man died over the weekend while fishing with friends.
The Campbell County Sheriff's office says Vernon Ferguson, 32, was fishing on the Staunton River in the Melrose area late Friday night when he decided to go swimming. He apparently had trouble swimming, and his friends tried to save him but could not.
The Brookneal Fire Department was finally able to recover his body at around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
