Danville Rallies to Edge Lynchburg for 11-12 Little League Title
Lynchburg - Little League District 2 title game, 11-and-12-year-olds, Lynchburg Jefferson battled Danville American Tuesday night with a berth in the state tournament on the line. Danville would rally to win 11-10.
Down 6-5 in the fourth, Lynchburg broke loose for five runs in the inning, Landon Duff's single plates Matthew MacCallum, and Trevell Alexander then beat the throw to the plate for another run, Lynchburg took a 10-6 lead.
Danville got two back in the bottom of the inning, Parker Martin triples to the gap in left center, Nick George racing home. McCallum got Lynchburg out of the inning with a strikeout, still 10-8 Lynchburg after four.
Danville, though, struck for three runs in the fifth to grab the lead.
Clifton Johns' chopper up the middle plates the first. Later, George sends one to right that drops in plating Johns, Danville back on top 11-10.
And pitcher Blake Fulcher made the lead stand in the sixth, Fulcher getting a strikeout to end it. Danville wins 11-10 to advance to the Little League State Tournament.
