Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg volunteers are strategizing on how to gain votes in the PetSafe Bark for your Park contest.
The power outage last week put a huge dent in the votes. Lynchburg is lagging way behind the first place city, Texarkana, and now the third place city is quickly catching up.
The contest doesn't end until August 1, and Lynchburg is currently in second place. Their main concern is getting more volunteers.
Organizers say the more people encouraging others to vote is what they really need right now.
"I think it would reenergize everybody and just remind everyone that this is still going on and we still need help," said Ashley Atkins, contest organizer for the Friends of the Lynchburg Dog Park
You can vote twice a day through Facebook and the official Bark for Your Park website.
Second place does win $25,000, which would help furnish the park.
