Danville, VA - A 10-year-old is headed to Washington DC to compete in a national competition.
Danville native Savior Waddell made a poster for a local anti-smoking campaign called "TAR WARS," and his "Hang Tough--Don't Puff" entry won.
He and his family are headed to DC with his family next week to compete.
Savior credits his classmates for their support.
"I'm a big fan of art and my classmates was cheering me on to go on and so was my teacher," said Savior.
His mom says she hopes Savior continues to represent kids who are against smoking.
Danville Regional Hospital and the Virginia Academy of family physicians sponsored the local competition, and the Woodrow Wilson Elementary school nurse coordinated the contest.
While in DC, Savior and his family will tour the Capitol with Congressman Robert Hurt.
