Danville, VA -- The Danville Police Department found from their Spring Click It or Ticket studies, that Danville is below state average when it comes to people wearing a seatbelt.

Danville Police looked at three different locations counting up the number of offenders and found that only 73 % of drivers were buckled up. That is compared to the 81 % in Virginia.

Danville's number got worse since their Fall survey. They say that it is very important to wear a seat belt every single time you get in a car.

"Seatbelts do play a very important role. I think a lot of times people mistakenly think that I have an airbag, I'll be okay, but they have to go together," said Cpl. T. B. Scearce with the Danville Police Department.

The Police Department plans to keep pushing seat belt use among all drivers and pass angers.
