Lynchburg, Va. - Motorists should be aware of the following information regarding brush collection and a temporary street closure:
On Thursday, July 12, Link Road, between Boonsboro Road and Hurdle Hill Road, will be temporarily closed to through traffic beginning at 8:00 a.m. The street closure will allow crews to collect the massive amounts of brush piled along Link Road in a manner that is safe to motorists and crews.
Residents contracting with commercial companies to remove trees and brush should direct the companies to dispose of the brush at the Landfill whenever possible. Due to new rules, all commercial companies must dispose of brush at the Landfill site located at 427 Livestock Road in Rustburg. For the next several weeks, tipping fees have been suspended for commercial companies hauling brush/trees for a Lynchburg resident. However, the company must show proof. This proof can be in the form of one of the resident's utility bills. The hours for the Livestock Road Landfill are Monday – Saturday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Residents may still dispose of brush and other trash at the Landfill on Concord Turnpike. Weight limits and fees for residential disposal at the Concord Turnpike Landfill have been suspended until further notice. The new hours for the Concord Turnpike Landfill are Tuesday – Saturday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
