
Next month's battle for the starting quarterback job at UVa just got a lot more heated.
Sophomore Phillip Sims, who played as a backup at national champ Alabama last year, has been granted a waiver and will be eligible to compete for the Cavaliers THIS FALL. Sims was among the highest rated quarterbacks in the country coming out of Oscar Smith High in Chesapeake. The school says it was informed of the NCAA's decision Wednesday. Virginia's incumbent quarterback is Lynchburg's Michael Rocco, who said recently he can't get caught up in all the talk.
