Danville, VA - This Sunday marks 50 years on the radio for a Danville DJ.
Even though Phil Watlington now holds the position of production manager with WBTM and WAKG, he still has a weekend program called the "Sunday Swing Shift".
He says he's had several opportunities to go to larger markets, but this is just the place for him.
Phil started his career at age 16 and came to WBTM in 1962. He says being here for five decades makes him feel old.
"We have about 40 full time employees here, and so many of them were not even born when I came here -so yes old," said Watlington.
Watlington's famous last words were, "If you want to get rich become an attorney, not a Disc Jockey."
