Update 4 p.m.:

Danville, VA - According to the fire department, a suspicious chemical caused employees' eyes to burn. The hazmat team, fire department, life saving crew, and police were called to the scene.

All four employees who had symptoms were checked out on site. After hours of investigations, they determined a chemical, similar to pepper spray, ruptured accidentally. It was not through a mailing package, and everyone is very happy that it was not intentional.

"We do this as a precaution. That precaution paid off. And thus everybody walks away healthy and in good shape and the facility is not harmed," said Steve Dishman, assistant fire chief at DFD.

No one was taken to the hospital, and the post office was back open later Friday.
