Lynchburg, VA - GLTC gets a new leader Monday. Karen Walton officially replaces Mike Carroll as general manager.
Walton says she will look at the city's public bus with "fresh eyes." That includes talking with drivers and getting rider feedback at public hearings.
GLTC's been through a rocky financial year. Walton describes it as a money crunch. She hopes to get money back in to the system to beef up routes and has this message for GLTC's loyal riders:
"Keep on riding. I mean, it's a good system already. It's a nice little system. It's safe, it's clean, it's got good equipment. You're not getting a lot of breakdowns. It can only continue to get better," said Walton.
Walton has 11 years of experience in the public bus business. She comes to Lynchburg from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
