Danville, VA - A new nonprofit is coming to Danville, and it could help many find jobs.
ClassApe is designed to offer free online classes to Danville residents. The designers of the program say the nonprofit is in the very beginning stages, so they are still working out the details.
Organizers hope to eventually offer business classes that will focus on the needs of local businesses with the hope that the students will then get a local job. They plan to include courses such as basic accounting, IT and office management.
But these classes will not likely be in semester-form and not degree-seeking. In fact, they will likely be a one-time course that is designed to give you the technical skills needed for a specific job. They say there is a strong need for a nonprofit like this in the Danville community.
"We want businesses here to seek out students that we work with. We also want to be responsive to new companies coming into the area who may be looking for a certain skill set," said Joe Bocchi, executive director of ClassApe.
As we mentioned, this is still in the infancy stage. So they hope to have the partnerships formed, the funding acquired, and the format set-up by the end of this year.
