Amherst County - Amherst County High School will have a new boys head basketball coach.
Eddie Carter, who guided the Lancers to their first state tournament appearance in 43 years, has retired as a teacher and coach at Amherst.
Carter guided the Lancers to the Seminole regular season and tournament titles this past season. He's the winningest coach in Staunton River and Amherst County basketball history, a great coaching career that spanned five decades beginning in the 70's. Congratulations to Eddie Carter on his retirement.
