Lynchburg, VA - There's a funding campaign underway to restore three famous statues in Lynchburg to their original beauty.

The 2nd Virginia Cavalry Monument in Miller Park suffered a broken scabbard. The Greek Waterbearer at the Old Reservoir on Clay Street, and the Listening Post , or Doughboy, statue need work done as well.

Lynchburg Save Outdoor Sculpture! is spearheading the fundraising. One member doesn't want these relics of history forgotten.

"One, it's part of our mission of saving and promoting Lynchburg history and how important it is. If they all go away, our history is gone," said Sally Schneider, executive director of Lynchburg Historical Foundation.

Liberty University donated $2,000 to fix the statues. But it will take more than $25,000 to fix all three.
