Lynchburg, VA- The new Lynchburg City Schools Superintendent gave himself just 100 days to get to know the school system. He says he's done it.
Since April 9, Dr. Scott Brabrand met with every principal. He also met with business leaders, college presidents, parents and kids. He says he's now focused on developing a new comprehensive plan that will measure student behavior, school culture and achievement.
"What parents and students can expect this next school year is greater transparency, and also great accountability from the school system to them, and also what we will be expecting from them and the community," said Brabrand.
In the future, he wants to make classrooms wireless and introduce new technology like tablets and kindles. He says the biggest challenge next year will be doing more with less. Due to budget cuts, the school system had to lay off 42 people.
