Bedford, VA - The Bedford County School Board approved a new policy towards bullying.
The measure passed unanimously Thursday night at the school board meeting.
It includes intensive bullying education and prevention, with new policies towards bullying, that the district has never addressed before. Now, gossiping, verbal and nonverbal bullying is all addressed.
The new policy was created with input from social workers, parents, and teachers. Some students hope the new measure puts an end to bullying in Bedford.
"Finally because of this, I know that other people won't be bullied. They can have their situations handled and they won't have to deal with what I went through," said Bedford County student, Laura Ellis.
The new policy takes effect at the start of this school year.
