AMHERST COUNTY - Segar Jordan (pronounced Jerd-in) has been named the new boys basketball coach at Amherst County High School.
In two years with the girls team at Amherst County, Jordan, 25, turned the program around.
Two years ago the Lady Lancers had a 73-game losing streak and he help end that. Last season they went 13-10.
Jordan said, "It was a hard decision because of how good I think the girls team will be next year but I'm looking forward to the new challenge."
He'll take over a team that went to the state tournament last season and will return guard A.J. Richerson, an ABC 13 All-Full Court Press player.
Former athletic director William Gouldthorpe who hired Jordan said, "Jerdan is a hard worker, knows how to teach fundamentals and is very knowledgeable."
