Senator Warner Stops on Southside

Danville, VA - Senator Mark Warner made a stop at Averett University in Danville Friday.

He was in town for a roundtable discussion at Averett's student center.

Warner spoke about the most recent issues facing the state as well as the nation. He also answered numerous questions from concerned citizens about the economy, jobs and healthcare.

But before the meeting started, he asked that everyone share a moment of silence for the tragic shooting in Colorado.

"It was horrible; it was a senseless act of violence, at least 12 people killed, dozens other wounded, you just wonder what makes somebody so crazy that they would do that," he said.

Warner says he has three daughters who are at the age where they could have easily showed up for the same midnight movie and the thought gave him chills.
