Lynchburg, VA- The Civil War is one of the most important parts of our country's history. Some parts of it have come to our area.
The American Turning Point exhibit opened Saturday at the Lynchburg Museum. The exhibit spans all three floors highlighting important aspects Virginia played in the war.
About 100 people have gone through so far, taking in all 200 artifacts and the audio-visual displays. Staff say they hope the exhibit will teach visitors things they never knew about the war.
"People know about the battles, and the war side , but not a lot of people know or really understand how it really was living during the war" said Membership Coordinator Whitney Roberts.
This touring exhibit will be on display until mid November. The second part of the display which will focus on the war itself will go up in January of next year.
