Lynchburg Beats Danville 7-1 in Legion District 9 Tourney
Lynchburg - Lynchburg Post 16 defeated Danville Post 325 7-1 in Saturday's game one of the American Legion District 9 Tournament at Liberty University.
Lynchburg scored three in the first and one in the second to grab an early 4-0 lead. Dylan Caruso of Appomattox pitched the first five innings for Lynchburg, allowing just one run.
Post 16 was able to add to its lead, Logan Collins' hustle beating out a bunt in the fifth helped lead to another run and 6-1 lead.
Lynchburg pitchers held Danville to six hits. Lynchburg advanced to a winner's bracket game with the 6-1 victory. Danville fell to the loser's bracket and had to play the next game, but Post 325 rebounded nicely by shutting out Rocky Mount 5-0. With its second loss, Rocky Mount is eliminated from the tournament.
