Vinton - The Virginia High School League kicked off its 100-year anniversary celebration by unveiling a new logo that will be used through the centennial year.
VHSL officials visited William Byrd High School Monday to unveil the new image.
They chose Byrd because the design used was submitted by longtime Byrd coach Robin Hungate. Hungate's design was chosen from more than 150 submitted.
Robin Hungate/Logo Design Winner, said "It's going to be kind of cool. I mean, I've seen designs I've done before around but not all over the state I don't think. But it's going to be cool to watch this stuff."
Ken Tilley/Virginia High School League, said "It does incorporate the features that we wanted. It tells a story about the league and identifies us in a way that we think the objective was."
