Appalachian Power Officials: We Are Ready for Storm

Roanoke, VA – Officials with Appalachian Power say they are monitoring the storm coming across the Midwest Tuesday that is expected to bring severe weather.

The company has requested 500 line mechanics and 100 damage assessment specialists to be ready in the company's service areas in Virginia and West Virginia.

Officials say they expect outages to come from the storm, so they are securing staging resources across their service area.

"We are also in contact with emergency management agencies, local elected officials and state regulatory commissions, making them aware of our preparations," said Phil Wright, vice president of distribution operations for the company.
