Danville, VA - The Danville Regional Foundation is helping bring businesses to Danville by giving a $10 million grant to the Southside Business Technology Center.
The money will be distributed over a five year period, and the SBTC will use to offer help for start-up entrepreneurs.
They hope this money will recruit and retain new businesses. They can be locally or outside the region, but they are looking for high-tech and high-value kinds of businesses. DRF predicts 21 successful start-ups will be created along with 165 jobs.
"If you look at the future small businesses start up by entrepreneurs particularly serial entrepreneurs who are looking for high knowledge, high skill, high wage employees. That's where the future is going to be, that is where we will compete in the world," said Karl Stauber, president and CEO of DRF.
Some businesses are already lined up for this grant money.
