Roanoke Co., VA - For just the third time since the Roanoke County Police Department was formed a new chief has been hired.
Howard Hall, 47, takes over for long serving chief Ray Lavinder.
Hall is coming to Roanoke County from the police department in Baltimore County, Maryland. He will start the job on August 13.
"My first task is to learn. Learn about the department, the people and community before I make decisions on how we move forward," said Hall.
Chief Lavinder retired November 1 after 39 years as a police officer; 14 of those as Roanoke County's chief.
