Lynchburg, VA - Young minds from Lynchburg are getting a chance of a lifetime learning about the world through STEM - science, technology, engineering and math.

Wednesday's lesson for the middle school girls is solar power and energy.

The program's theme is Girls Go Green 4 STEM, and it's possible because of a $7,000 grant Lynchburg College got from the American Association of University Women.

The project's organizer is thrilled with the potential he sees in this room.

"Several of our students have been giving us some really great answers. And I'm like, 'Wow, I had no idea that you would have been exposed to that already.' So that's been really exciting for us," said Dwight Williams, chemistry professor at Lynchburg College. "Yes, gives me a lot of hope for the future."

Lynchburg College was one of 16 schools in the entire country to get this grant. The camp ends this week. But, the learning continues with monthly lessons for a whole year.
