Danville, VA- A theater group from Danville has been invited to attend the Junior Theater Festival.
Union Street Theatre folks are busy preparing the three day event in Atlanta in January.
Kids involved are excited to experience something of this magnitude; the festival is the largest of its kind.
The Union Street Theatre group will perform a 15 minute skit onstage and then get feedback at the competition.
"I'm just thrilled that the kids are going to be able to be around so many Broadway professionals. So many kids enjoy doing what they love to do and they get a chance to go to Atlanta on Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend, which is just awesome," said Melissa Bryant Charles, UST Artistic Director.
The theatre workshop is a costly undertaking so the group is planning a few fundraising events later this year. Those events include a Barbecue and Black Tie Gala.
"We figure almost $400 or more per person in order to make the trip, so the more we can fund raise would reduce that to a reasonable amount that people can handle," said Heather Vipperman, UST Fundraising Coordinator
Right now they have about 30 youth signed up and they still have room for more.
