Roanoke, VA - The executive director of the Regional Center for Animal Control and Protection in Roanoke has stepped down, following the announcement of an internal investigation.
Earlier this week SPCA officials said investigators are now looking into complaints of neglect and financial problems at the shelter. Thursday, William Watson Junior said he would resign, effective July 31st. He's also resigning as head of the Roanoke Valley SPCA.
Watson says he doesn't want to be a lightning rod and take away from the SPCA's mission.
