Norfolk, VA - A Virginia woman drowned at the Outer Banks this week. According to the Roanoke Times Obituary, 31 year-old Jill Chenet used to live in Salem.
National Park Service officials say Chenet reportedly fell off the edge of a sandbar on Hatteras Island. Her husband, Matthew Chenet, tried to save her.
Rescue workers found both face down about 20 yards from shore on Wednesday night. Jill and her unborn child, a girl, were pronounced dead at a Norfolk hospital. According to the Washington Post, her husband is in serious condition.
