Madison Heights, VA - Pieces of a local product are playing a part in Olympic archery. S and S Machine in Madison Heights manufactures pieces for bows.
They're called "Axcel" sights, used to hit targets precisely. Five people from team USA have "Axcel" sights on their bows. An athlete on Team Italy and one from Team Korea also have "Axcel" sights.
Director of Operations Ben Summers flew to London to watch the athletes compete as they use the company's product.
"Right before he shot his final six arrows he looked up at me in the stand and gave me the thumbs up sign and I was able to shoot the thumbs up sign right back at him," said Summers.
The company sells the sights and scopes internationally to everyone from hunters to competitors.
The company has made sights for bows for the past seven years. S and S Machine makes other things, including equipment for Areva and Frito Lay.
