Lynchburg, VA - Want to know who Mitt Romney's Vice Presidential Candidate will be? Well, there's an app for that. Romney announced Tuesday he'll spread that news via a smart phone app.

Never in the history of our nation has a Vice Presidential candidate been announced via an iphone notification. We discovered how technology and social media is revolutionizing the race for the White House.

"I can get it here before it hits Facebook, so I'll know," said Debby Ruffin who downloaded Romney's app.

It's called "Mitt's VP." It promises anyone who has it, first dibbs on knowing who will be Romney's running mate.

"I'm inpatient as can be and I really want to know, and I want to know now, because I think it's going to be the determining factor in his election," said Ruffin.

"I think not only is it exciting, but it's smart," said 20 year Republican and Congressional District Chairman, Wendell Walker. Walker says he has seen campaigning change dramatically; long gone are the days of faxes and phone calls.

"Whether it's smart phones, Facebook, whatever that communication is, it's important that we all tune in," he said.

And tune in we have. On Facebook, Romney has more than three million "likes," and the President, who famously revolutionized social media's influence on politics, a staggering 27 million.

"It's revolutionary in campaigning. It allows for people, instead of everyone having to cram into one place, you can identify supporters just by being on the internet," said Will Scott of the Obama Campaign.

Romney's new app, as well as others used by the President have become key in campaigning. "It also gives us the ability to use the cell phone, or to use the ipod to be able to go door to door and canvas," said Scott.

A smart technology plowing a new path for politics, "Mitt Romney, a very successful business man understands technology and how it works, and the valuable tool it can be in the political process," said Walker.

It's expected Romney will announce his running mate some time before the Republican National Convention on August 27th. Till then, you can get his app and the President's on your smart phone for free, by searching the itunes store.
