Lynchburg - Today's Football Friday Preview checks in with the E.C. Glass Hilltoppers.
Former Appomattox County head coach Ben Martin steps in as the Hilltoppers new head man. He takes over a 4-and-6 Glass team that just missed the playoffs last year. Martin feels one of the Hilltoppers' main strengths this season should be up front on both the offensive and defensive lines. Martin brings with him a triple-option attack that he used at Appomattox, the Raiders won two district titles in Martin's four years as head coach.
Ben Martin, FIRST-YEAR E.C. GLASS COACH, said "I think it's definitely something we'll have the speed here at Glass every year to be able to put the athleticism out on the football field that will be able to run the offense very well. And same thing defensively, you know our philosophy on both sides of the ball is to get speed on the field and we definitely have that."
Colin Miller, SENIOR TIGHT END/DEF. END, said "Not many people are counting on us to do much. So we don't have the spotlight on us so we're just working hard, making sure people know our names."
The Hilltoppers open their season three weeks from Friday night at Charlottesville.
