Madison Heights - Today's Team of the Week is the state champion Madison Heights junior boys 13-year-old baseball team. Madison Heights won all its state tourney games by slaughter rule this past weekend in Hillsville to advance to Saturday's World Series in Christiansburg. Remember last year's Madison Heights' 12-year-old team that finished as World Series runner-up to Florida?
That's THIS team one year older with only one new player. Opening Ceremonies are Friday night, and Madison Heights plays its first game Saturday at 4 against the Georgia state champions.
Travis Wood, OUTFIELDER/PITCHER, said "We've gained a couple more pitchers, and just stronger in the infield and outfield.
Dennis Carter- "Are you guys, would you say you're a better offensive or defensive team?"
Travis Wood - "We hit the ball really good so I'd say offensive."
Nathan Loyd - THIRD BASE/CATCHER/PITCHER, said "We have more pitching and we can hit the ball better, kind of like we like to say, we've got unfinished business with them."
