Lynchburg, VA - After a rocky couple months, GLTC is heading in the right direction.
The public bus company produced a surplus to the tune of $94,000. That number is preliminary. The surplus gets finalized after an audit in the fall, but it's the first good news the company's seen in quite a while.
Unfortunately for riders, the money will be saved. It won't restore diminished service or bring back route 10 which got cut - at least not yet. Still, it's a good day for GLTC.
"The First Transit company and the GLTC board did a really good job looking at expenses and trying to minimize where we could," said Greg Daniels, a GLTC board member.
This year, GLTC cut four staff positions and got a new general manager.
