Martinsville, VA - Some young people in Martinsville are taking a proactive approach to preventing teen drinking.
Communities Helping Improve Local Lives, or "CHILL," is a task force working with the Virginia ABC through a project called "Sticker Shock."
Project Sticker Shock involves the teens going into local stores and placing STOP stickers on all cases of Alcohol. The stickers warn adults about the legal penalties for providing alcohol to minors.
Many kids take a personal approach to helping the cause.
"Bad things have happened, and it's a lot more heartbreaking when its personal, you know people talk about it all the time. But when it happens to someone that's really close to you, that's when it really hits home," said Cody Lopez, a volunteer with CHILL.
