Virginia Tech is ranked 20th in the country in the USA Today Preseason Coaches Poll.

Southeastern Conference powers LSU and Alabama are 1-2 followed by Southern Cal, Oklahoma and Oregon.

The Hokies are the THIRD-HIGHEST ACC team in the rankings. Florida State is number 7, defending league champ Clemson is 14th and Tech is 20th. West Virginia is number 11, UVa is 38th.
