Rocco, London Talk About QB Battle

Charlottesville - The UVa Cavaliers kick off their preseason football camp Monday afternoon at 4.  Practices the first six days, Monday through Saturday, will be open to the public, admission is free.  Virginia held its preseason media day Friday afternoon.

And of course, a hot topic of conversation was the starting quarterback position.  Lynchburg's Michael Rocco is coming off a strong sophomore season and comes into camp as the starter.  The Cavaliers now have added Alabama transfer Phillip Sims to the roster, he's eligible to play right away.  Rocco was asked whether he felt like he had to win his job all over again.

Michael Rocco, UVA JUNIOR QUARTERBACK, said "I really believe it's my job to lose and I'm not going to lose it.  And I mean my teammates believe in me, my coaching staff believes in me and I've been there before.  I've been through the struggles like I've said and the successes that we've had.  And my team believes in me and so I believe in myself."

Mike London, UVA HEAD COACH, said "They just said we embrace the opportunity for Phillip to come because that's going to increase the competition.  And the competition should make, you know, should make not only them better but the competition at the right guard position or the corner position or whatever it might be is going to make those guys better."
