Stafford - Lynchburg Post 16 won the American Legion State Baseball Tournament Friday afternoon in Stafford.
Trailing by one in the 8th, Post 16 scored two runs in the bottom of the inning and beat Albemarle 4-3. Travis Burnette had a big day at the plate, 3-for-4, scoring three of Lynchburg's four runs. Post 16 goes a perfect 4-and-0 in the tourney and now advances to regional play next Thursday in Sumter, South Carolina. Lynchburg will face Puerto Rico in its first regional game Thursday morning.
Also Friday, Big Island's Junior Legion team stayed alive in tourney action in Glen Allen, beating Greenbriar 7-2. Big Island plays again Saturday morning at 10.
