Franklin Co., VA- Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened early Sunday morning in Franklin County.
Police say 26-year-old Carl Jacob Hinkle of Hardy was driving a pickup northbound on Route 679 around midnight when he ran off the left side of the road. Hinkle then over corrected, running off the right side of the road, where he hit several trees.
Police say Hinkle was not wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
