Lynchburg, VA - A brand new exhibit just opened today at the Legacy Museum in Lynchburg. It's based on an old African American hymn called 'Trouble Don't Las' Always.
The display shows what life was like from 1860 to 1890. There's more than 100 items of all sizes inside the two-room exhibit.
It highlights things like war, work experiences, religion and education. Some of the items are on loan to the museum and others have been donated.
"(One man) came in with this book published in 1868 that was very, very important to his family and in this book it has poems, it has songs, it has essays and they all date back to the institution of slavery," said Dianne Swann-Wright, Guest Curator at Legacy
The 'Trouble Don't Las' Always' exhibit will be up for the next two years.
