12 Danville Arson Fires Since Start of Year

Update 4 p.m.:

Danville, VA - Another Danville fire has been ruled arson. That makes 12 of these investigations just this year.

The most recent one was just Sunday night in the 1,000 block of Stokes Street. Officials say the fire started in the back of the home and crews spent about two hours on the scene. We're told this was a vacant home.

But other arsons since January include Hylton Hall and the apartments on Grove Street. Fire officials say for the most part the arsons are not connected and no one should be alarmed.

"We have solved some of these crimes as we went along so they are not all unsolved. We have made charges on them," said Richie Guill, Assistant Fire Marshal.

Officials ask that if you see anything suspicious, to call police.

Danville, VA - Investigators say a fire at a home in Danville was intentionally set.

Crews were called to the 1000 block of Stokes Street just before 11 p.m. Sunday.

When they arrived, they found fire coming from the back of the one story home. Crews were on the scene for about two hours.

The house was vacant at the time and no one was injured.
